Mufti Hussain Kamani

Mufti Hussain Kamani was born to a Hindu revert-to-Islam and Muslim father in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. With the blessings and du'a (supplications) of his parents, Mufti Hussain Kamani underwent a journey of a lifetime in pursuit of sacred Islamic knowledge. He began his pursuit of the Islamic sciences at the young age of six to memorize the entire Quran at the acclaimed Darul Uloom Madania in Buffalo, New York. By the blessings of Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala, he was able to complete this momentous task in 1999. Having the growing thirst to quench more knowledge, Mufti Kamani then traveled across the world to the United Kingdom to attain more advanced formal Islamic authorizations in the field of Islamic theology. He studied at Darul Uloom Bury, the renowned seminary of the great revivalist and scholar of Hadith, Shaykh-ul-Hadith Zakariyya Kandhlawi (Rahmatullahi Alayh). Mufti Kamani completed the traditional six-year curriculum covering the Arabic language, Arabic morphology, Islamic jurisprudence, Tafseer (exegis) of the Holy Qur'an, Hadith (Prophetic Sciences), philosophy, and Aqeedah (Islamic Creed) under the guidance of some of the pioneer scholars in England, including Shaykh Yusuf Motala, Shaykh Hashim, Shaykh Bilal and Shaykh Abdur Raheem bin Dawood amongst others. Upon graduation he was then was specially selected to enter a post-graduate level course in Islamic Law and Legal Verdicts (Fatwa). He completed this course in two years and received formal authorization in it as well.

Alongside his religious studies, Mufti Kamani was blessed with having the opportunity to study the secular and academic sciences. He completed his graduate degree in Business Management from the University of Coventry in England as well.

Currently, Mufti Kamani is the Imam of the Islamic Center of Chicago. With the help of Allah, he is constantly working on projects and programs to cater towards the needs of the Muslim youth and the greater-Chicago community. This includes conducting numerous weekly lecture series, holding after-school Quran classes, counseling youth, couples, and adults in general, teaching new Muslims, giving da'wah to non-Muslims, and being a senior advocate of Halal awareness and integrity. He is also an instructor in the Sacred Learning program headed by Shaykh Husain Abdul Sattar and is a favorite at Darul Hikmah's Weekend Islamic Sciences Academy.

Maulana Mubeen Kamani

Maulana Mubeen Kamani was born in Chicago (USA) in 1984. At the age of 6, Maulana Mubeen’s lifelong pursuit of Islamic knowledge began when he became one of Maulana Abdullah Saleem’s first students in Chicago by enrolling in the Qur’anic memorization program at the Institute of Islamic Education in Elgin, Illinois. His travels then took him to Karachi, Pakistan, where he enrolled at Jamia Binoria, founded by Mufti Muhammed Naeem. Maulana Mubeen also studied at Darul Hasrot in India and Darul Uloom Madania in Buffalo, New York. His travels to various countries and experience at numerous Islamic seminaries, coupled with his upbringing by his father and mother, a Hindu-revert to Islam, gave Maulana Mubeen a very unique and wholesome upbringing- an upbringing which would help shape the rest of his life.

Having studied the Qur’an for a great portion of his elementary years, Maulana Mubeen had a deep desire to further his studies in the Islamic sciences. At the age of 16, in the year 2000, Maulana Mubeen traveled to the United Kingdom and enrolled at the acclaimed Darul Uloom Al Arabiya Al Islamiya Bury. There, he studied under some of the world’s most renowned scholars and students (representatives) of the great Shaykh-ul-Hadith Muhammad Zakariyya Khandalwi including Shaykh Yusuf Motala, Shaykh Hashim Patel, Shaykh Bilal Bawa, and Shaykh Abdur Raheem Limbada, may Allah preserve them. Maulana Mubeen completed the 6-year ‘alim course based off of the traditional Dars-e-Nizami curriculum in 2005. He earned authorizations (Ijazah) in several Islamic sciences, including, but not limited to the Arabic language, exegesis of the Holy Qur’an (tafsir), hadith, and jurisprudence (fiqh).

After completing his studies in the United Kingdom, Maulana Mubeen returned back to the United States and served as Imam at the Masjid in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. In 2006, he moved to Chicago and since then has been serving the community in various capacities including delivering Friday sermons and other lectures across the Chicagoland area. Currently, Maulana Mubeen is an instructor at the Darul Hikmah Academy and serves as the Imam at the Westmont Masjid, where he holds classes on Qur’an, Tafeer, and Hadith.
